U.S. Chamber Reappoints Harland Stonecipher
CEO of Pre Paid Legal Services, to Board of Directors
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has reappointed Harland Stonecipher, President and CEO Pre-Paid Legal Services, to a two-year term on its 100-person board of directors.

Pre-Paid’s Media Push Pays Off

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know … or, better yet, who knows you. And Pre-Paid Legal Services is making sure consumers are aware of the company’s services with a national media campaign beginning late September designed to tap its $5 billion potential market.
A survey done by the company found that the general public was unaware of what Pre-Paid does. Pre-Paid develops and underwrites legal service plans that provide unlimited attorney consultation, letter writing, document preparation, and other legal services for a monthly fee.
Investors liked what they heard. Pre-Paid’s shares shot up 14.8%, or $6.95, to $53.93 at the close on Monday.
Harland Stonecipher, chief executive officer, said the company is in negotiations with several media outlets, but no contract has been secured.
Chris Roberts, director of research at Tejas Securities Group, said historically Pre-Paid’s stock is very volatile because there is very little volume so any time there’s significant activity it causes the price to go up or down significantly.
Roberts said that quantitative funds, which use computer models, could have triggered an even bigger price change than normal.
